Ford Racing brings its “Warriors in Pink” breast cancer awareness campaign to the Road America road circuit September 22-24 as part of the Champ Car World Series race weekend. Katherine Legge will pilot the #20 Bell Micro Ford-Cosworth/Lola/Bridgestone Champ car which sports a new custom pink paint scheme and decals.
The car is meant to generate interest in the Komen Race for the Cure, a nationwide series of 5K run/walk events designed to raise funds to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease. At the end of the weekend, Legge will donate her racing suit, shoes, gloves and helmet to a charity auction with proceeds going to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. “It is an honor for me to contribute to such a great cause and I am happy to support Ford in any way I can,” Legge said. “My team and I feel privileged to do anything we can to raise awareness for breast cancer research and to further the effort of finding a cure and we just hope we can make a difference.” The race will be televised live on Sunday, September 24 at 2:00 pm ET on the SPEED Channel.
