The third place finish for Alex Job Racing would place the team on the podium for the second time this season. Mike Rockenfeller started the #23 Bell Microproducts/Alex Job Racing/Porsche 911 RSR from the first row. The young German was able to takeover the number one position during the first caution period. On lap 33 Rockenfeller handed the car over to teammate Marcel Tiemann, the elder German returned to the battle in fourth position. Tiemann was able to hold fourth place but on lap 57 experienced a puncture going into turn six. Marcel would carefully navigate the Porsche back to the pits, during this stop, Rockenfeller would jump back into the driver’s seat and pilot the Porsche to a third place finish.

Rockenfeller commenting on the race said, “I had a good start at the beginning, but as the stint went on I got progressively worse over steer and could not drive as aggressive as I would have liked." Tiemann was perplexed by his drive. “I am not sure what happened during my stint. We had radio problems early and then I was not able to turn the lap times that I did earlier in the week, we will have to look at the data. On my 24th lap I went up the hill and into turn six and the tire went down. I was able to get it back around and into the pits without any damage. Mike did a great job at the end to get us on the podium.”
