SAN JOSE, Calif., October, 2007 — Bell Microproducts Inc. (NASDAQ:BELM), one of the world’s largest value-added distributors of storage and computing technology, is taking the wheel in support of America’s injured military heroes on Oct. 20 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, California. Partnering with Racing for Our Heroes, a recognized non-profit organization supporting the recovery and rehabilitation of disabled, wounded, and amputee war zone veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan, Bell Microproducts will sponsor several injured veterans for a day at the races, including transportation to and from the event, tickets, lodging, meals, and access to the company’s hospitality suite. Previously, Bell Microproducts sponsored Racing for Our Heroes groups at this year’s Road America and Petit Le Mans events.
Conceptualized as a galvanizing effort, and designed to encourage and inspire our military heroes as they endure lengthy and difficult recovery and rehabilitation procedures, Racing for Our Heroes was founded by former U.S. Marine and current American Le Mans racing driver Jason Carter in 2006.
“We are proud to support the noble efforts of ‘Racing for Our Heroes’, and to show our utmost appreciation for the sacrifices of America’s veterans. It is our sincerest wish that each of these brave Soldiers and Marines make a swift recovery,” said Don Bell, Bell Microproducts’ president and CEO, as well as a driver himself.
On Monday, Oct. 22, Bell Microproducts will host its third annual season-end celebration at its San Jose headquarters. Participating in the festivities will be the Rahal Letterman Racing crew, drivers Tom Milner and Ralf Kelleners and the 18 veterans attending the Laguna Seca event.
“Without the help and support of sponsors like Bell Microproducts, this organization could not exist,” noted Carter. I am extremely pleased that this project is helping these brave Soldiers and Marines deal with the wounds of war, and I cannot thank the sponsoring companies enough for embracing this project.”
