Bell Micro’s Rafa Matos finishes 16th at Kansas and moves into the top 10 for the session championship

The Turbo Indy 300 at Kansas Speedway this past weekend was the first oval race of the 2010 season. 2008 IZOD IndyCar Series champion Scott Dixon put on a command performance at Kansas, dominating to win ahead of Dario Franchitti and Tony Kanaan. Bell Micro Racing’s Rafa Matos led Sarah Fisher home as they took 16th and 17th respectively. The both ran clean races and stayed out of trouble to gain valuable points in the chase to the championship. Matos is in 10th place in points with five races run so far.

To illustrate how competitive this years IndyCar series is, Matos’ qualified 13th less than one second off the pole time of Ryan Briscoe. In the final practice session he improved even more to 11th fastest only .2310 seconds behind the fastest car driven by Scott Dixon.

Now the teams move to Indianapolis and prepare for the 94th running of the Indy 500. We expect Mados and Bell Micro Racing to be even more competitive at the speedway.
